Overview
Combining World Heritage Rainforest with Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway, this tour encompasses the best scenic transportation options available in the region. You can begin your journey into the rainforest with the Kuranda Scenic Railway, famed for its beautiful route and the fact that it has been servicing the community for over 100 years. Winding from Cairns through the lush green rainforest, cascading waterfalls and tropical mountain ranges to Kuranda Village, this is one journey to remember. Once atop Kuranda, you're free to explore at your own pace. You can visit one of the many great family friendly attractions including Kuranda Koala Gardens, Birdworld and the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, or you could simply just wander around the markets and relax at a local café - the choice is yours. Come time to leave, you can make your way to the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway terminal and board the enclosed Skyrail that will lift you high into the sky for a smooth journey over the luscious World Heritage listed tropical rainforest. The one way journey will take around 1.5 hours from departure at the Kuranda Terminal to reach the Smithfield Terminal as well as including stops at the Red Peak Station and Barron Falls along the way. The two station stops are worth exploring and guests are advised to allocate around 20 minutes at each to explore the lookouts, historical displays and enjoy a guided boardwalk tour from a local ranger.
