Overview
Visit one of Port Stephens' most popular animal attractions, Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounter for the day to get up close to and learn about sharks and rays. A great experience all ages will enjoy, a visit here will educate and entertain. Featuring a number of different exhibits, you can see giant rays in the Ray Lagoon, the largest touch pool in the aquarium, see reef sharks in Tawny Terrain, explore the Rocky Shores Touch Pool and Nursery in the Aqua Nursery, learn about the fringing reef near mangrove forests and the animals that live in there in the Epaulettes Abode exhibit, and see Eastern Fiddler and Shovel Nose Rays in Fiddler's Flats. If the touch pools don't provide enough interaction for you, you can purchase an additional experience the get in the water with some of the aquarium's animals. Suitable for all ages the young tots can get in the water in the Aqua Nursery and those brave enough can wade in the pool and cuddle with the resident 325kg stingray, Raspy. Everyone who visits the aquarium will have access to all of the exhibits, be guided around the aquarium and be given food to feed the sharks and rays. The aquarium is open daily from 9am to 5pm and if you're looking to book a Shark Encounter on your arrival remember to bring swimmers and a towel.
